November 19, 2008 marked another successful GIS Day celebration. This worldwide event was observed in Jamaica as an educational display held at the University of the West Indies, Mona for our young minds. The theme was “GIS: Driving Response–Ability” and was chosen with the aim of raising awareness and educating children and adults about GIS technologies. Students in their numbers represented over 50 schools from across the island. They interacted with numerous organizations by visiting booths, participating in quizzes, a map creation competition, a GPS treasure hunt and eco-fashion designing.
Spatial congratulates the coordinators on this successful event and anticipates an even better GIS Day 2009 celebration across the
Caribbean!
