The NSDI Executive Forum was held in November 2008 at the Crowne Plaza hotel, Trinidad, brought together approximately forty (40) GIS managers and decision makers from across the public and private sectors in the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago. The forum discussed the approach required to develop a National Spatial Data Infrastructure for Trinidad & Tobago using the Jamaican experience as a template for action.
Three (3) presentations elaborating the merits of developing a NSDI were conducted. The first was “A Technology Roadmap for NSDI Development” by Damian Graham from Spatial. The second presentation was on the “State of NSDI Development in Trinidad & Tobago” by Dr. Bheshem Ramlal of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine and the third and final “Using the Jamaican Experience in the Implementation of a National Approach to SDI Development in Trinidad & Tobago” by recently acclaimed ESRI GIS Pioneer & Champion Mrs. Jacqueline daCosta, representing the Land Information Council of Jamaica.
